Epic Trail Run Azores

Athlete 1 - The departure of the EPIC100 race will be given at 00:00 on 02^nd December, near the Sete Cidades lagoon shore, one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal: following South direction to Baltazar trail to the top of Cumeeira Grande; passing in the view point of the Grota do Inferno (grotto of hell) continues towards the Mountain of Devassa, along the lagoons in the massif of the Sete Cidades. (this zone is characterized by the soft ground of bagacina - dark thick sand of volcanic origin); descent to the Picos region, passing through Gorda, from where you can see the city of Ponta Delgada; passage through pastures and rural paths on a trail up the middle of the slope of the Fogo massif; descending towards Janela do Inferno (Window of Hell), and then a flat area that follows the underground conduits of water supply;  finish line at Agua de Pau village, on the slope of the Sierra of the same name where the main Check Point is located.

Athlete 2 - going up to the highest point of the race, Pico da Barrosa (antennas); technical descent by the Ribeira das 3 Voltas trail (three way creek); passage through the water conduct trail, to the Lagoa do Fogo (lake of fire) margins, and then following the Burra trail to Pico da Vela; descent in technical trail for the passage in the Lagoa do Congro (Congro Lagoon); ascending to the White Castle, entering a dense forest of Criptomérias and then a descent of the downhill passage to the cascade of Salto do Rosal;  arriving at the margin of Lagoa das Furnas (Furnas Lake), steep ascent in the Grená trail to Pico do Ferro belvedere, and then technical descent to the passages of the hot springs near Lagoon of Furnas. Already near the Village of Furnas athletes will have a pass by the hot water creek and will arrive at Terra Nostra Garden, near the finish line, next to the thermal lake of lukewarm sulfurous water, at Furnas Camping.

The EPIC15 race will start at 10:30 on 02^nd April, at Furnas Camping in the direction of the Gaspar Peak to the lookout post descent to the margins of Furnas Lake, steep ascent in the Grená trail to Pico do Ferro belvedere, and then technical descent to the passages of the hot springs near Lagoon of Furnas. Already near the Village of Furnas athletes will have a pass by the hot water creek and will arrive at Terra Nostra Garden, near the finish line, next to the thermal lake of lukewarm sulfurous water, at Furnas Camping.
